Medicaid Remains - Obamacare Repeal Fails
For American's on Medicaid, the last 7 years has been filled with scared thoughts of a potential end, or at least drastic cut to Medicaid. With Republicans now able to control Senate, this started to become a real threat more recently.
Each day, I speak with people throughout New York State who are struggling and working as hard as they can to care for their families. Many of these people are working 40 hours a week, then coming home care for an elderly parent or relative for another 25 - 40 hours. This takes it toll on many! These people love their family and choose not to put them in a nursing home or just push them off and forget about them. This is where we come in to help with the Consumer Directed Personal Assistant Program (CDPAP) that pays them for their care at home.
CDPAP (also known as CDPAS) is a Medicaid sponsored program. If Obamacare was repealed, this program could be in harm, leaving millions of Americans and residents of New York State without care. This would force these families to put their loved one in a nursing home, thus making the government to pay the bill which would almost DOUBLE the cost of care!
Thank you to all of the people who advocated against this bill. You can read more about the attempt to repeal and replace Obamacare from the NY Times written by Robert Pear, Thomas Kaplan and Emily Cochrane - Click Here.
