If you or a loved one needs help paying for healthcare, you may qualify for Nevada Medicaid, a state and federally funded program that provides free or low-cost health coverage to eligible individuals and families. Whether you're applying for the first time or reapplying after a lapse in coverage, this guide will walk you through the process.

What Is Nevada Medicaid?

Nevada Medicaid helps cover medical costs for low-income children, pregnant women, adults, seniors, and people with disabilities. It includes services like doctor visits, hospital care, prescriptions, mental health support, and more. If you qualify, you can enroll any time of year—there’s no open enrollment period.

Who Can Qualify?

Eligibility is based on several factors, including:

  • Household income

  • Family size

  • Age

  • Disability status

  • Pregnancy status

  • Citizenship or immigration status

To see if you qualify, you can use the Access Nevada eligibility screener or speak with a caseworker.

How to Apply

There are three main ways to apply for Nevada Medicaid:

1. Online

The fastest and easiest way is through the Access Nevada portal. Youll need to create an account, fill out the application, and upload documents like:

  • Proof of income (pay stubs, tax returns)

  • Social Security numbers

  • ID or immigration documents

2. In Person

Visit your local Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) office. Staff can help you fill out the application and answer questions.

Find your nearest office here: DWSS Office Locator

3. By Phone or Mail

You can also apply by calling 1-800-992-0900 or requesting a paper application to fill out and mail back.

After You Apply

Once you submit your application:

  • You’ll receive a notice in the mail or online within 45 days (or sooner).

  • If approved, you’ll get a Medicaid card and be assigned to a Managed Care Organization (MCO) like Anthem, SilverSummit, or Molina.

  • If denied, you have the right to appeal the decision.
