The state’s Medicaid program includes Granite Advantage Health Care Program for adults and traditional Medicaid for children, pregnant women, seniors, and people with disabilities. Here’s how to apply and what to expect.
What Is New Hampshire Medicaid?
New Hampshire Medicaid covers:
Doctor visits and hospital care
Prescription medications
Mental health and substance use treatment

You can apply any time of year—there’s no open enrollment period.
Who Can Qualify?
Eligibility depends on:
Income and household size
Age and disability status
Pregnancy or parenting status
Citizenship or immigration status
The Granite Advantage Program is available to adults ages 19–64 with income up to 138% of the federal poverty level.
How to Apply?
You can apply for Medicaid in New Hampshire in three main ways:

2. By Phone
Call the NH DHHS Client Services at 1-844-275-3447 (ASK-DHHS) for help applying or to request a paper application.
3. In Person

After You Apply
You’ll receive a decision within 45 days.
If approved, you’ll get a Medicaid card and may be enrolled in a Managed Care Organization (MCO) such as NH Healthy Families or WellSense Health Plan.
If denied, you can appeal the decision.
